Who Are The Medallions?The Medallions started back in 1954 and was led by Vernon Green. He wrote many hit songs for the group. Since his death several years ago the group had disbanded. We are bringing back the old sound with a little modern twist. lt's all about the Music!This modern, but "authentic" sound has been "reconstituted" with eleven (and more on the way!) fresh digital recordings completed in July, 2007. The Medallions "new" rollicking vocal four-part-harmonies and arrangements remain true to what the original (mostly teenage) songwriters and composers had in mind. We honor their music. We invite you to join us and enjoy a journey back to a time when America was at Peace. The only controversy to be found was in the "lyrics' to some of these great compositions. Some songs were "banned" outright, due to lyric content. These
first 11 songs made a huge contribution to the "collective
consciousness" that became ROCK & ROLL. We are an eight-man group that specializes in 50’s and 60’s R & B and Rock and Roll. The group consists of keyboard(who also does background vocals), guitar, bass, drums, tenor and baritone sax. There are also four vocalists. Our experience goes back many years and includes working with the following artists: Little Richard, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, Bobby Darin, Don & Dewey, El Chicano, Gerald Wilson Orchestra, The Midnighters, Lou Rawls, Billy Preston and many others.
